How to Achieve Smooth, Glass-Like Skin

“Glass skin” is a buzzword that has been floating around the media lately. In essence, “glass skin” is healthy, hydrated, smooth skin that reflects light making it appear glowy and youthful. So how do we achieve this smooth, dewy skin look?

There are a few things to keep in mind when aiming to achieve this fresh look to the skin.

#1 Exfoliation

The first step in achieving reflective skin is keeping it exfoliated. Exfoliating regularly helps to remove the buildup of dead skin cells revealing fresh, healthy skin. This also allows your serums and hydrating products to work more effectively. The key here is enough exfoliation, and not too much. Too much exfoliation can dry the skin out creating the opposite of what you desire. I generally recommend exfoliating one to two nights per week. I love Refining Lotion for an effective exfoliating cream.

#2 Hydration

Hydration helps to lock moisture in the skin cells. This makes the skin appear plump and dewy while also filling in and preventing fine lines. The key to good hydration is to approach it from the inside out as well as the outside in.

  • First make sure that you are drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water a day and eating fruits and vegetables that contain water.
  • Secondly, using a humidifier in the winter helps keep your skin moisturized while you sleep.
  • Lastly, layer a hydrating toner under every step in your skin care routine. I recommend either Nourishing Mist or Restorative Mist for this step. This would look like:
          1. Cleanse
          2. Restorative Mist
          3. Serum (Ultra Restore Serum, and or Youthful Glow Serum)
          4. Nourishing Mist
          5. Face Cream (Rose Glow Intensive Moisturizer, or  Skin Nourishing Lotion, or Skin Vitality Cream)
          6. Nourishing Mist
          7. Face Oil (Radiant Face Oil, or Luminous Face Oil) at night
          8. Sun Salutation during the day

It may seem like a lot of products, but layering skin care products helps to flood the skin with proper nutrients and hydration, helping to lock in moisture. As a result, the skin will look smooth, luminous and “glass-like”.
